We opened our doors in early 2025 as Dopetapas, a small neighbourhood restaurant with a big love for bold, social dining. But as our ideas developed and our food style evolved, we realised the name no longer reflected who we were becoming.
Cala — meaning “cove” in several Mediterranean languages — felt like home. It spoke to our growing passion for the flavours of Italy, France, and Spain, and our desire to create a space where people could relax, share beautiful food, and enjoy each other’s company.
Rooted in the leafy seaside charm of Dun Laoghaire, Cala brings together the warmth of the Mediterranean with the best of Irish ingredients. We focus on seasonal, expressive dishes — simple in style, big on flavour, and made to be enjoyed.
Our story is still unfolding, but it’s one built on community, connection, and a love of food that brings people together. We’re so glad you’re here to be part of it.
